In 2025, Tar Heel Materials is focused on leading the way to a more sustainable future through innovative wood recycling practices. Our commitment to reducing carbon emissions, restoring natural resources, developing new materials from waste, and becoming the largest carbon-credit neutralized facility in the Carolinas will shape the future of wood recycling.
Join us as we take bold steps toward a greener, cleaner world.
Milestones for 2025:
1. Expand recycling capacity by 25% in efficiency and output.
2. Offset over 100,000 tons of CO2 through carbon credits.
3. Enhance Eco-innovation by implementing cutting-edge technologies to further reduce waste and emissons.
4. Increase community engagement through working with local counties and companies in North Carolina by promoting environmental education and sustainable practices.
As we continue our journey toward carbon neutrality, we invite you to join us. Together, we can build a greener, cleaner future for generations to come. Help us take the bold steps forward, for the planet, for our communities, and for a sustainable tomorrow.
Our Five Year Plan: Turing Waste into Power - The PGFireBox 400 KW
We're excited to anounce the addition of the PGFireBox 400KW, an advances waste-to-energy system designed by Air Burners. This cutting-edge machine allows us to do more than responsibly manage wood and green waste. It lets us transform that waste into clean, renewable electricity.
Closed-loop solution: Instead of hauling debris to landfills, the PGFireBox consumes wood waste directly on site.
Energy generation: While eliminating waste, the unit produces up to 400 kilowatts of power, enough to supply our operations and reduce reliance on the grid.
Clean air technology: Built with Air Burners’ air curtain system, the PGFireBox dramatically reduces smoke and particulate emissions compared to open burns.
Sustainable footprint: By diverting waste from landfills, lowering emissions, and generating renewable energy, we’re creating a more resilient and environmentally responsible facility.
We plan to deploy the PGFireBox at our current site and our upcoming new location, ensuring both facilities are powered, in part, by the very waste we produce.
This is more than just a piece of equipment — it’s an investment in sustainability, efficiency, and the future.
